ATDI signing off for ICS telecom V15 with newly acquired Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services (BAF)
ATDI is further enhancing its local footprint and presence in Germany with a new contract deal on software provision, training and maintenance services signed off in February with the Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services (Bundesaufsichtsamt für Flugsicherung – BAF)
The contract scope covers the provision of ICS telecom V15, a 2-year maintenance and a 1-week training services. ICS telecom V15, ATDI’s flagship for Radio Planning and Technical Spectrum Management software, is since 1990 (ICS Version 1), the key package in the planners’ toolkit. It is capable of modelling any size of radio system from intensive local area to extensive countrywide.
This new contract shows and significantly demonstrates once again ATDI‘s highly driven expertise for Civilian Aviation, Aeronautical propagation, Navigational Aids with BAF representing a key account in Germany.
BAF was namely searching for a new improved software solution that only ATDI can offer due its global leadership positioning in terms of expertize, know-how, long experience and customer centric focus.
With Airbus, IABG, ILF, Acellonet, Bescom, BDBOS, Funkwerk, Detecon, Selectric… ATDI further increases its presence in Germany.
This occurs within a new strategic context of market and partner acquisition of ATDI to retouch base on Germany’s spectrum management and radio planning solutions playground and to further enhance ATDI’s footprint, brand awareness, brand impact and positioning in our neighbor country that represents an immense opportunity to ATDI’s highly qualitative, performing, innovative and customized A-class Next gen software solutions offer and services in spectrum management and Radio Network and Frequency planning.
The Langen-based Federal Supervisory Authority for Air Navigation Services is the national supervisory authority for civil air navigation services in Germany. The BAF authority was established on 18 September 2009. It is under the authority of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). Its director is Prof Nikolaus Herrmann.
As the national supervisory authority, it ensures that all air navigation service providers operating in Germany comply with the specified safety requirements. It is, for example, responsible for checking the quality and reliability of radio navigation aids and the licensing of air traffic controllers.
The BAF authority was established to comply with the EU Regulation for a single European sky. This Regulation aims at common airspace management to optimize flight routes, thus reducing flight time and protecting the environment.
The runway-in-use, or landing direction, depends on the current wind direction as aircraft typically take off and land facing into the wind. Runways are designated according to international standards based on their heading.
At Frankfurt Airport, for example, the parallel runways are designated as follows: RWY 25 (which stands for 250 degrees on the compass rose, i.e. west wind) and 07 (which stands for 70 degrees, i.e. east wind). As western winds clearly prevail (75% of the time), landing direction 25 is predominantly used.
