ICS map server is a comprehensive toolkit for the production of cartographic files from diverse sources such as:

  • aerial photographs
  • paper maps and more

Suitable for all image processing activities and enabling digital terrain model files (DTM) to interface with image processing tools and market-available geographic information system software (GIS).

ICS map server manages cartographic information in various projections and grids. It performs:

  • mosaic generation.

ICS map server features both manual and automatic extraction of cartographic information, interpolates contour lines in order to produce DTM and allows modifications and enhancements to cartographic information.

ICS map server imports and exports cartographic data from ATDI’s radio planning software. The formats used include:

• Main DEM cartographic formats (DTED, NTF, BIL)
• Images (BMP, TIFF, Targa)

DEM

DEMs (digital elevation models) can be imported, exported, fabricated and manipulated. ICS map server is optimized to produce DEMs, relying on algorithms to extract the X, Y, Z information from an existing database (contour extraction, stereo restitution…).

ORTHO-RECTIFICATION

ICS map server allows the digitalization of map features directly from aerial photographs. To collect accurate measurements from aerial photos, it is necessary to remove geometric distortions caused by camera tilt, and variations in the underlying terrain. True ortho-rectification uses a high-resolution DEM containing an urban scene to pitch the facades of the buildings vertically. This creates an orthogonal projection from a radial projection. Without this process, antennas might be placed at specific coordinates such as the building’s facade instead of on the roof.

RESTITUTION OF CLUTTER

ICS map server is optimized for the creation of clutter files. It describes the topographical properties of the ground including vegetation, buildings and growth. The restitution of such files are completed in vector format.

 
RASTER IMAGING

ICS map server manipulates 256 color raster images produced by the color scanner or imported from other sources. The image generated is exported to various applications (TIFF, TGA, BMP). The processed images are used as GIS (geographic information system) support or for the generation of other cartographic layers.
